Tomcat 5.0 Memory Leak

We’ve recently become aware of a memory leak in Tomcat 5.0:

If you’ve been having problems with Tomcat slowing down over time or freezing to the point where it needs to be restarted periodically, please contact us (http://www.renegadeinternet.com/support.html) for help with patching Tomcat 5.0 or upgrading to Tomcat 5.5 as it does not contain this bug.

    Here are instructions for downloading and installing the Tomcat 5.0 patch:

    [tt]
    cd /usr/local/tomcat/server/classes

    wget http://extranet.renegadeinternet.com/temp/patch_5_0_leak.tar.gz

    tar -xzvf patch_5_0_leak.tar.gz

    rm -f patch_5_0_leak.tar.gz

    /etc/rc.d/init.d/tomcat stop

    #
    # Wait 60 seconds
    #

    killall -9 java

    #
    # Wait 10 seconds
    #

    /etc/rc.d/init.d/tomcat start
    [/tt]
