3rd party ad server discrepancies/robot filtering

Asked by: 484 views Third Party Ads

When advertisers are using Atlas, the discrepancy is always 8-9%. I wanted to confirm if the discrepancy could be due to robots, or if AdvertPRO already filters them. I couldn’t find any info about it in the user manual, but I did see on the features list:

ยป Robot filtering AdvertPRO can be configured to filter hits from many search engine spiders, monitoring agents, and various other robots out of your statistics reports.

Saying that it “can be configured” leads me to believe I need to do something to get this working. Can you point me in the right direction?

You should have a robots.txt file set up in the root directory of the domain where AdvertPRO is installed. That would be the same directory where you default.html or index.html file is located. The contents of that file should contain something similar to this, depending on what directory you’ve deployed AdvertPRO to:

    User-agent: *
    Disallow: /advertpro

Then you should also enable robot filtering in AdvertPRO. Go to Settings > Basic > Server. There is a setting called Robot Filtering that you should set to Enabled.
