Point.Roll Advertising

Asked by: 621 views Third Party Ads

We’ve got a new advertiser interested in running a point.roll campaign. Does this require any special implemention on my part? Or do I just treat it like any other Flash (or html) creative? Any guidance would be appreciated.

Yes, you’ll treat them like any other HTML creative. If the AdvertPRO tags in your site where you’re going to run the PointRoll ads contain <IFRAME> tags (our old default code format did), you should tell that to PointRoll. They will have to send you slightly different code for running in IFRAMEs, at least that used to be the case.

    Mike:

That’s still the case as we have an active PointRoll campaign.

They will also send a special file as well for iframe tag served ads that will need to be under the webroot.

We are new to AdvertSERVE and are running a new campaign with pointroll, inbanner video, we are doing a test, and they want to know how we serve the ads – iFrame,Script or Server Side Insertion. I saw some mention about using Iframes? Is this necessary to use Iframes when I am setting up the campaign – is there a best way to do this. I get a little stuck as far as how to setup the campaign to serve it, and I am not sure what to tell pointroll.

thanks very much for any help.

By default, the AdvertSERVE code wizard outputs JavaScript code. That is the best format to use with PointRoll.

It is also possible to use IFRAME with PointRoll and the AdvertSERVE code wizard has the option of outputting IFRAME code, but I don’t recommend it because it’s more complicated to set up that way.

If the PointRoll ad resizes/expands itself, how would that work with a fixed size iframe?

The IFRAME would clip off anything outside of its bounds. However, PointRoll has a special .html file that can be installed on the ad server. The file lets PointRoll display the expanded part outside of the IFRAME.
