keeping selected campaigns from competing

Asked by: 736 views User Questions

I think I asked this a while back and it wasn’t possible, but I’m wondering if updates in the last year will make this work…

Can I prevent 2 specific campaigns from showing on the same page? For instance, I do not want the leaderboard to show an ad for advertiser X and the skyscraper on the same page to show an ad for advertiser Y… OR in a similar case, I don’t want an advertiser to be overexposed so a skyscraper and leaderboard for advertiser Z cannot be shown on the same page. I hope this makes sense.

Sorry I missed this message earlier. We still have not implemented this, but we are planning to add it to version 2.0 which should be released around September. It will be possible to mark advertisers as competitors so their ads don’t show up on the same page and you’ll also be able to mark campaigns as linked or unlinked. Linked campaigns would show up on the same page, i.e. a 728×90 at the top of the page and a 160×600 on the right of the page while unlinked campaigns would not be allowed to show up on the same page.

Awesome! That is definitely something I will be able to use. I have a client who has 2 separate campaigns and doesn’t want them to compete against each other. I need it for July though. Any possibility you need testers? ;)

It will not be ready for July. Maybe middle/end of August.

As a temporary solution until this feature is available, it might work to schedule campaigns that you don’t want to compete or show up at the same time to run at alternating hours of the day or days of the week.

The feature to prevent campaigns belonging to different advertisers from competing is available now. It does not yet prevent campaigns for the same advertiser from competing though. That one is going to take a bit longer, but we’re working on it.

To enable this, edit the advertiser you want to register competitors for. Then select “Account Competitors” from the “Change View” drop down menu on the right. A screen will come up that will let you assign other advertisers as competitors.

You must have an older version of AdvertPRO. Log in to AdvertPRO as the admin user and click on “Version Information” just above the browser status bar at the bottom of the screen. Which version and build number does it report you have there?
