Campaign Reports

Asked by: USATourist 416 views User Questions

Hi,

I have just started using AdvertSERVE a couple of days ago.  I’ve started setting up and testing my accounts/zones/campaigns and media.  Everything is great!  But I do have a question about the reporting.

Some background info:
I am using the code wizard to display my ads by media only.  That is because all of my ads are static, there is no rotating.

My site is multi-lingual.  So I have a separate media set up for each ad for each language.  So with 5 languages, ABC Company’s text listing ad has 5 media set up, 1 for each language.

Each of the 5 Media are grouped under the same campaign.

Question:
Is it not possible to view the reports by Campaign when the ads are displayed using the Media ID?  It is great that I can see how the ad is doing in each language by viewing the media reports.  But I would also like to see how the ad is doing overall.  When I try to generate a campaign report, I get the No Data Available message.

Thanks!
Michelle

The ad server will not log statistics against any campaign since you’re calling the media directly. Media can actually be assigned to many campaigns, so the ad server doesn’t attempt to connect media to any campaigns for that reason (how does it know which one to pick?). However, I think if you modify the media code generated by the code wizard, it might be possible to force it log data for the campaign. There are several URLs in the code where you’ll see “mid=123″ where 123 is the ID# of the media. Directly after that, add “&cid=456″ where 456 is the ID# of the campaign so you end up with “mid=123&cid=456″ in the URLs.

    Thanks!

I tried it out with adding the CID#. But it doesn’t appear to work.

Since I’ve just started using the software, I’m still trying to figure out how to do things I need in the most efficient way.

    What about doing the reverse?

If I still have 5 medias assigned to a campaign. Can I call the ad by using the campaign code. But set it up so that it selects the media according to the language. So media 1 (in english) will appear only on the english pages. And media 2 (in french) is on the french pages.

Would using the Keywords be the best way to do this? Or is there a more efficient way?

If I do use keywords, the stats generated for the keywords (and therefore each media) will only be impessions, clicks and actions tables, right?

Ideally I’d like to be able to view complete stats (view/clicks, geography, hourly, etc.) for each campaign. And I’d like to see those same stats for each media/language in that campaign.

    Any suggestions are appreciated!

Since I’ve just started using the software, I’m still trying to figure out how to do things I need in the most efficient way.

Given that your pages static and not sharing templates between different languages, I think this may be the best and easiest way to go:

    1) Go to Zones and click on Groups -> New in the navigation menu on the left. Create a group for each of your languages.

    2) Create a zone for each section of your web site — for each language. Name them “Cities / English”, “States / English”, “Cities / French”, “States / French”, etc… And make sure to assign them to the correct group, i.e. “Cities / English” belongs to the “English” group.

    3) Use the code wizard to tag all of the zones into your pages.

Once you’ve done that, you will be able to assign campaigns to run across your site in specific sections and languages very easily without the need for custom or keyword targeting. This will be more work upfront to set up, but in the long run it will make things easier for you. Tagging zones into your pages only needs to be done once. After that, you can add/remove campaigns from your pages entirely from within AdvertPRO by simply adding or removing them from the relevant zones.

If I still have 5 medias assigned to a campaign. Can I call the ad by using the campaign code. But set it up so that it selects the media according to the language. So media 1 (in english) will appear only on the english pages. And media 2 (in french) is on the french pages.

You cannot define a single campaign with a few media for English pages and a few other media for French pages. Those are considered separate campaigns by the system since they have different targeting criteria. You will need to create separate English and French campaigns to contain the English and French media.

Ideally I’d like to be able to view complete stats (view/clicks, geography, hourly, etc.) for each campaign. And I’d like to see those same stats for each media/language in that campaign.

You will be able to see this data from various perspectives with the general summary, advertiser summary, and campaign summary reports. All of those reports can also include a summary of media and groups (languages).
