Multiple Default Campaigns

Asked by: redbob 583 views User Questions

Is there any way to set up so that a zone will default to multiple campaigns rather than just one? Sometimes I have a sponsor who pays to own a zone for a month or so. I want to be able to set it up so that I give him the exclusive delivery for a fixed period of time but when his exclusive campaign expires, the zone goes back to normal (ie multiple campaigns being delivered through the zone)?

    I would suggest placing his campaign in a higher chain than the rest of your campaigns, for example:

    Sponsor’s Campaign -> Chain=1
    Other Campaign #1 -> Chain=0
    Other Campaign #2 -> Chain=0
    Other Campaign #3 -> Chain=0

    That way, when the sponsor’s campaign expires the ad server will drop down to the next lowest chain and start showing your other normal campaigns.

    Note that I’m assuming you won’t set any limitations such as a frequency cap, even delivery, or a geography target on the sponsor’s campaign since you said you want to give him an exclusive. If you do set any such limitations, the other campaigns would rotate in with his when those conditions were met or exceeded.

    Thanks Mike, that makes sense. Can I set his delivery to unlimited impressions and be sure he won’t be overridden by an advertiser that is lower on the chain but needs to fulfill his delivery cap?

    Yes, the ad server will not display campaigns from lower chains if it has any to display from higher chains. It always selects a campaign from the highest chain possible.
