Extracting Banner Art

Asked by: ebill 416 views User Questions

I am new to AdvertPro system and am still finding my way around. I have found and understand the back-up function of the DB.

However I want to create back ups of the original media including flash files. Is there anyway to download all media files outside of the DB backup format?

All media files are stored as binary data in BLOB fields within the database, so they aren’t downloadable as files.

You could import the filesystem_files table into MySQL and then create some code to read the binary data and write it out to files.

The MySQL manual has example code for doing this in VB or C# here: http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/connector-net-using-blob.html#connector-net-using-blob-reading

You could display each banner 1 by 1 and use a Flash capture tool like SoThink SWF catcher to download it to a local file.

Can I use that method to extract any table information from the database?
I specifically want to extract each publisher, their publisher_id, and email.

It wouldn’t be practical. We’re talking about backup files here, which are ZIP files that contain all of the data in the database. You have to unpack the ZIP file, convert the data files to SQL files, and then load them into a MySQL database to do anything with the data.
