Configuring Publisher Accounts

I have a single zone running on multiple pages using the same campaign. Is it possible for only some of those pages to be accredited to a publisher account without editing the existing ad code on those pages?

I want them to be able to login and view reports, but I don’t want to edit those specific pages with new ad code every time a new publisher comes along or a page has a different publisher.

Or maybe I’m thinking about this the wrong way? I’ve tried using custom fields to identify certain pages but I can’t seem to try those pages in with a Publisher account. Any suggestions?

    No, the publisher ID# must be coded into the ad codes in your pages.

    It seems odd to me that the ownership of a given page could change between publishers. Maybe you have confused advertisers with publishers? Generally advertisers are the ones paying you to run a campaign and publishers are the ones running the ads on their web sites, which may or may not be only yourself (in which case you don’t really need to use publisher functionality).

    Hum, well the end goal is somewhere between publisher and advertiser I guess. I’m wanting to track certain pages for a particular person, but use existing zone’s that are in place. So, if Person A wants to put something on my site on Page 1 then all the views for an ad zone on that page should be accredited to him. And that person may or may not be on several pages.

    But what I was hoping for is to use the Zone that is already on say Page 1, and then have the ad stats be credited to Person A. So that they can login and see the stats for their pages without me having to generate a report for them.

    Is this explanation any better? I might be going about this the wrong way…

    It doesn’t sound like you need to use publisher accounts at all to me.

    I suggest setting up each person as an advertiser. When you run their campaign in the zone, it will automatically track statistics for their account in every zone you run their campaigns in. You can then give them the username/password for their account and they can log in to view their reports whenever they want. That will work whether you have campaigns for one advertiser or multiple advertisers assigned to the same zone. They only see reports for their own campaigns no matter what.

    Ok, but I have the same banner zone across a whole category of pages. I want only one of those pages to belong to an advertiser. Is that possible without changing the ad code on that one page to a new zone for that advertiser?

    The best way to accomplish that would be referrer targeting. Edit the advertisers campaign(s) and select Referrer Targeting from the Change View drop down. Enter the URL of the page(s) you want them to take over in the Targeted box, one per line if you have more than one. Click on the (?) icon above that box for details on wildcard syntax.

    One other step is necessary. Edit the zone and select Referrer Targeting as an Exclusive Target. By doing that, it will cause a campaign with a referrer match to always take 100% priority on that page.
