Double Click Noscript Link

Asked by: Abraham 655 views User Questions

I’m setting up an ad for double click. The regular version works fine but the no script version does not work. I’m setting up the noscript version using a Graphic Banner type. It appears if I use the link they provided in the browser with ord=[timestamp] at the end it works fine but when advert pro reinterprets it to ord=%%timestamp%% it does not work. Neither does removing the ord=[timestamp].

Modifying the script as instructed in the manual page
http://advertpro.renegadeinternet.com/docs/1.0/html/manual/thirdparty_doubleclick.html

to something like:
%%CLICKLINK%%http://ad.doubleclick.net/jump/N884.sitename/B2343505.2;sz=300×250;ord=[timestamp]?
gives me the error
The Redirect URL field must contain a valid HTTP or HTTPS address.

When I put these different links in the browser directly the only one the works is the original format they provided such as:
http://ad.doubleclick.net/jump/N884.sitename/B2343505.2;sz=300×250;ord=[timestamp]?

http://ad.doubleclick.net/jump/N884.sitename/B2343505.2;sz=300×250;ord=%%timestame%%?
and
http://ad.doubleclick.net/jump/N884.sitename/B2343505.2;sz=300×250;
DO NOT WORK

How can I get this to work right through advert pro?

Do these work if you preview them in AdvertPRO or view them on your web site? The %%TIMESTAMP%% will be replaced with an actual timestamp (i.e. 20080114130701) when the ad is served. It will not work if you try to paste the URL with %%TIMESTAMP%% still in it into your browser because two %’s in a row is actually illegal syntax for a URL.

Yea I tested them in the site and they didn’t work – The link in advert pro was in the format
    http://ad.doubleclick.net/jump/N884.sitename/B2343505.2;sz=300×250;ord=%%timestame%%?

I also tried to preview it and the click is always “Stopped”

Does the noscript version actually work if you try pasting it directly into a page on your site?

    I tried to view: http://ad.doubleclick.net/ad/N884.sitename/B2343505.2;sz=300×250;ord=[timestamp]

But it displays a 1×1 pixel transparent GIF. I’m guessing there is not a noscript variation of this ad and the click through is not supposed to work for that reason. You would have to check with DoubleClick to verify that though.

Yea the noscript url link works when it’s put into a page directly – in fact that’s how it’s running now in the site. But when the link is put into advertpro as a Graphic Banner type link it doesn’t work. I believe it’s being stopped by Double Click because of the way Advert Pro is formatting the timestamp.

That link was just an example not really the real url.

Could you e-mail the real URLs to [email]support@renegadeinternet.com[/email] ? I would like to test them and see if I can figure out what’s happening. The timestamp formatting shouldn’t be an issue. To my knowledge DoubleClick will accept any number with 8-20 digits for the value of the ord parameter. AdvertPRO formats the timestamp as YYYYMMDDHHMMSS, i.e. right now it would be 20080114164623
