Display direct links to advertisers

Asked by: HLH 401 views User Questions

Hi,

We have had some requests from advertisers who insist on having at least one link in their html ads displayed as “http://www.theirsite.com” instead of “http://mysite.advertserve.com/servlet/click/zone?zid=xx&cid=xx&mid=xx&pid=0&default=false&random=96912529&timestamp=20080730155327&test=false&referrer=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.mysite.dk%2F&redirect=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.theirsite.dk”.

They claim that they will not earn Google pagerank unless there is a direct link. So, is it possible to display direct links and does it really affect the Google ranking?

Yes, you can add a NOTRACK attribute to your <A> tags to have them ignored for tracking, see here:

    http://www.advertpro.com/docs/1.0/html/manual/clicktrack.html#links

However, Google and all other search engine spiders are blocked from downloading the ads, so I don’t think they’ll get credit anyways.
