Custom Targeting

Asked by: 418 views User Questions

It would be helpful please if someone could give me a concrete example using 2, 3 or 4 ‘Custom Fields’ for ‘Custom Targeting’ Integration. I’m having difficulty imagining how a campaign would use more than one custom field.

Let’s say a user can browse our PHP MySQL application through three levels:

* Region [Custom Field #1]
* State [Custom Field #2]
* City [Custom Field #3]

If an advertiser would like to be displayed for more than one city, then couldn’t we target campaigns for the cities he specifies, and the campaign doesn’t need to consider the region and state?

Just trying to get the gist of this at this time.

Thank you!

    What AdvertPro does is connect all of the fields with AND logic, so a value from all three fields must match if the campaign has targets entered for all three of them.

    You can enter multiple values to target in the same field. Just enter one value per line in the box. How those values are connected is with OR logic, so only one of them needs to match.

    Here’s an example of targets for a campaign:

    Field #1 Targets:

    North East

    Field #2 Targets:

    Field #3 Targets:

    New York

    So, this campaign would have to match a visitor with the following criteria:

    (region=North East) AND (state=PA OR state=NY) AND (city=Pittsburgh OR city=New York)
