Action Tracking Question

Asked by: dacarr 441 views User Questions

Forgive what might be a dumb question, but …

If I generate HTML action-tracking code – and that code is only an tag – how does Advert Pro know if the action that was delivered due to someone clicking on an ad? If the advertiser is adding this code to their page, wouldn’t it be parsed even when a visitor simply visits their site and purchases something anyway?

 Can you explain how it works?

Yes, the action tag will be executed by all visitors. AdvertPro gives a cookie to all visitors who have viewed your ads. That cookie links back to a session on the AdvertPro server which has a record of which ads were clicked on by a visitor. The action will only be tracked if that visitor clicked on one of the ads from that advertiser. If the visitor has no cookie from AdvertPro or did not click on one of the advertisers ads then no action will be tracked.
