Unexpected Delivery

Asked by: dacarr 801 views User Questions

We have had an email newsletter campaign which has been running for months without any problems.

Here’s what we’ve got:

  • Advertiser has a different banner for each day of the week, so we cannot set a default banner.
  • Each banner is set with a chain of 50 and a priority of 100
  • The ad which appears on Friday also runs on Saturday and Sunday

Within the last two weeks, we’ve getting default ads appearing in that ad zone on a few computers inside the office. The sales rep claims that he’s seeing it happen outside the office, but no advertisers are complaining … and I have been checking emails outside the office and am not seeing it happen.

Any ideas?

Do the campaigns have any limits such even distribution or frequency capping or any types of targeting set on them? If you are seeing a default it’s likely because one or more of those conditions are not being met. I’d have to guess it’s possibly a geo-target and your office IP has changed to one that can’t be mapped (which could be due to out of date MaxMind data).

    Hi Mike,

No, none of the campaigns have any delivery limitations other than the day of the week which they appear. No set number of impressions to deliver, no frequency capping, no time-of-day limitations, etc. and we are not using geo-targeting.

I’m wondering if it’s a caching issue in Microsoft Outlook. Is that possible?

I would normally set a default ad using the checkbox in zones, but since they want the ad to change every day, I’m thinking that might also cause problems.

It could possibly be a caching issue. Any chance you could send me a copy of the newsletter? I would like to see if I can reproduce the problem. Send it to support@renegadeinternet.com

Will do … it will appear to come from your own e-mail address.

    Thanks Mike!
