Can zone size be changed?

Asked by: a123 628 views User Questions

Hello,

Is there any way I can change an existing zone size without creating a new zone?

I created a zone a long time ago as a regular skyscraper (120×600) and now want it to also allow wide skyscrapers (160×600). I want to keep the same zone name/id so it will appear in reports as the same zone. I know it can be done the other way around (start with larger and make compatible with smaller), but I need to go from smaller to larger. I do not want to replace the zone with a new one because the statistics will not be grouped with those of the spot when it was smaller.

Is there a way to do this?

Thanks.

Yes, go to Settings > Sizes and edit the 120×600 size. Select Compatibility from the Change View drop down. Move the 160×600 size into the Compatible box on the right and then press the Save Changes button.

Note you might want to do the same for the 160×600 size and make it compatible with 120×600 so you can create future zones using the 160×600 size because the compatibility is only one-way so you need to do it for both sizes.

The tricky part is going to come down to the zone code in your pages. If it’s the old zone code format that contains <IFRAME> tags you will need to generate new code for the zone and replace the old codes. The reason being that the <IFRAME> does not allow for resizing of the banner, so it cannot support more than one size. The code wizard is aware of that though and will generate non-iframe code when it sees the zone will accept both 120×600 and 160×600.
